Aspiring Student, My name is Jackson, and I’m a first-year dental student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. I graduated in 2016 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a 3.98 overall GPA and a 4.0 GPA in the sciences from Harding University. In addition, I was awarded the 2016 Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Student of the Year award as well as the 2016 Senior Capstone Presentation award. Learning from phenomenal professors has equipped me with not only a commanding knowledge in my field but also the ability to communicate effectively!
Experience
I love learning and the learning process! I've been tutoring in multiple subjects now for 6 years and have loved seeing students that I have worked with excel academically. Many of my students have improved to such a degree that they began making A’s on assessments after initially scoring D’s and F’s. I’ve tutored all age ranges: elementary through the undergraduate level, and now at the graduate level! Each age group has its unique challenges, and I take that into account when tutoring so that I can tailor my tutoring to their needs. I also utilize the “Learn One, Do One, Teach One” methodology of tutoring and have found it to be extremely effective in helping students not just know material, but truly master it. I have expertise primarily in math, physics, chemistry, and biology. I particularly enjoy teaching algebra, general physics, general chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, cell biology, genetics, anatomy, physiology, and histology. Closely tied to my math and science education is a formidable knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, PowerPoint, and particularly Microsoft Excel. In addition to my academic career, for the past 5 years I have been a semi-pro photographer. I have 6 years of experience with Adobe Photoshop including advanced photo retouching techniques such as frequency separation and 4 years of experience with Adobe Lightroom. Photography is my creative outlet and I would love to introduce students to the world of photography and advanced photo editing software. I love the outdoors and and am an Eagle Scout, so I really enjoy hiking, climbing, slack-lining, and camping. As mentioned previously, I have been a semi-pro photographer for the past 5 years and love to do portrait and landscape photography. Family is also a big part of my life, and my wife and I love to spend time connecting with family members.
