Experience
I attended Rhodes College for my bachelor's degree in English, graduating with honors in 2013. After graduation, I became a member of Teach for America, spending two years teaching in public schools in the Memphis area. I'm certified to teach in the state of Tennessee, and I've had experiences teaching in public schools, private schools, and charter schools. I'm certified for middle school and elementary school level teaching, and I'm also certified for high school level English and history. In addition to my certifications, I've been trained in teaching language arts and math following Common Core standards. I love helping students learn, and I respect the fact that every student learns differently. For this reason, I customize my approach based on the student's interests and skill level. I help my students make progress in every session so that they stay motivated and engaged, and so they build confidence in their abilities. My greatest asset in tutoring is my ability to figure out what the student knows and then adapt my approach to help that student learn from there. When I have free time, I like to play and coach baseball.
