My teaching specialty is 5th and 6th grade math and 7th grade pre-algebra. My approach to tutoring is to determine where the student is having difficulty and to correct his or her understanding at the root level. An enhanced comprehension of numerical expressions and properties, operations and equations, variables and abstract concepts form the foundation of my program. Tutoring sessions are conducted in a classroom-style setting, limited to 6 students per session, and coordinated with Shelby County Schools curriculum. The learning environment is complete with effective classroom teaching resources such as an overhead projector, dry erase boards, motivational learning resources, and interactive instruction. Sessions are conducted weekly, students can attend as many sessions as needed, there are no binding contracts, and parents are encouraged to attend.
