Education

Graduated with a Neuroscience and Spanish B.S. from Rhodes College.

Experience

Because I majored in neuroscience and focused on pre-medical courses, I have a great background in the foundations of biology. I also scored in the 80th percentile in biology on the 2017 MCAT. Because the MCAT covers all introductory-level collegiate biology, I am confident in my ability to provide tutoring in this subject after taking the exam in August. Through my neuroscience major, I took 16 credit hours of college-level psychology. I also took psychology in high school through the International Baccalaureate program and scored a 6 on the IB exam. In addition, I conducted research on stigma against mental illness through my college psychology department, and presented student-led research at the 2016 American Psychological Association convention in Denver, Colorado. Finally, I scored in the 91st percentile in psychology on the 2017 MCAT. I have been speaking Spanish for over 15 years, and one of my undergraduate majors was Spanish. My major required me to speak, read, and write at the collegiate level in Spanish, and I wrote a 20 page thesis paper in Spanish as the culmination of my degree. I also studied abroad for over a month in Cuenca, Ecuador and spoke exclusively Spanish. I worked as a writing tutor and teaching assistant for three years of college, and provided support along every step of the writing process: planning, organization, argumentation, and grammar. In addition, I received excellent scores on the essay portion of the SAT all three times that I took the test. As someone with a neuroscience and health background who also has ADHD, I provide a unique perspective on ADHD tutoring. I know what has worked for me in the past, and I know strategies that are empirically proven to increase productivity and motivation in individuals with ADHD. I love helping people learn, improve their writing, and put their best foot forward!
